  1. To elect a Chairman for the year 2002/2003
  2. There was one nomination, that for Cllr. Derrick - he was duly elected.

  3. Minutes of a meeting of the Recreation Field Committee held on 4th February 2002
  4. These minutes, which had been previously circulated, were taken as read agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman. There were no matters arising.

  5. Correspondence
  6. John Lawson's Circus

Letter of confirmation that they wish to visit the village for shows on 7th, 8th and 9th July 2003. They wish to move in on the Sunday and move out on the Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. The Clerk had already suggested to the Circus that the cost would be £30 a day. Members agreed that the Circus can use the Rec. on those dates and further agreed that the charge should be £90 for the three days.

  7. To consider estimates for the year 2003/2004

The Action Plan was reviewed and the Chairman asked for suggestions for the next phase of the ongoing ground improvements. It was agreed that, as the new gate and kissing gate at the cricket field end was due to be fixed this week, the western boundary should be improved. This would then leave the northern boundary and the boundary around the old quarry to be considered next year. It was agreed that the money in this year's funds for laying concrete under the gates should be spent on improving the western boundary leaving the concrete until next year.

The Clerk had tabled Revenue estimates and a small adjustment was made to the grass cutting costs, which members agreed should stay with B&NES as they do a very good quality job.

A Capital project sum of £1775 was brought into estimates to concrete under the gates and any further western boundary improvements.

It was finally agreed that a bid of £2500 is put to the Finance Committee for inclusion in the 2003/2004 precept.

Meeting closed at 8.40 p.m.
