7 p.m. Personnel Committee

Public Session - 10 minutes when the public may express a view or ask a question on relevant matters on the following agenda. Members of the Public are welcome to stay and observe the rest of the meeting, although the meeting may decide to ask press and public to leave during Items 4, 5, 7 and 8 in accordance with Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960, due to the confidential nature of the business.

  1. To receive any apologies for absence
  2. To elect a Chairman for the year 2002/2003
  3. Minutes of the Personnel Committee meeting held on 17th December 2001 - to agree a true record and sign (previously circulated)
  4. To interview the four candidates for the post of Cemetery Caretaker following the retirement of Mr. Pearce (copies of completed application forms enclosed). The job vacancy was advertised in "The Journal" for one week and posted in the Notice Boards for three weeks. Chairman of Council has been invited to join the interview panel
  5. To endorse an updated Contract for the Cemetery Caretaker (copy enclosed)
  6. Any matters arising from the minutes of 17th December 2001
  7. To consider the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 Clerks' pay awards as agreed by NALC and SLCC. To consider the award of back pay and new rates for 2002/2003 and to fix the amount required in estimates for the year 2003/2004 (report enclosed together with copy of report given to the meeting of the Finance Committee held on 14th October 2002). The Finance Committee has already agreed that the head for Clerk's salary is sufficed to pay the 2002/2003 award and back pay in full.
  8. To monitor Caretakers' wages for this year and to consider estimate requirements to provide funds for the Caretakers' wages for 2003/2004. Clerk will give a verbal report although the figures do appear in the Finance report mentioned above
  9. To note that the Clerk has received advice from a qualified Area Safety Adviser on the new Health and Safety Regulations which came into force on 1st November 2002. The Clerk will report verbally.

  4. To consider and make comments upon new applications as detailed in the Planning Register (enclosed)
  5. To receive a report on the progress of the new POS adjacent to the bypass.
  6. To note planning decisions made by B&NES.

  4. To consider any feed-back comments on the distribution of the last Newsletter
  5. To review the Parish Council web site (1456 hits recorded in October)
  6. To consider figures for the printing and delivery of the Newsletter for the year 2003/2004 for inclusion in estimates (report enclosed)
  7. To consider the make-up and content of the December Newsletter.
