Agenda for Council Meeting Monday 24th May 2004 at 7 p.m. in the Cricket Clubhouse:

AGENDA

Public Session – 15 minutes when the public may express a view or ask a question on relevant matters on the following agenda. Members of the public are welcome to stay and observe the rest of the meeting.

Before the meeting starts the Chairman will invite all members to stand in silence and remember the life and work of Councillor Bill Dixon.

  1. To elect a Chairman of the Council for the year 2004/2005
  2. To elect a Vice-chairman of the Council for the year 2004/2005
  3. To receive and accept any apologies for absence
  4. Members’ Interests. Members are reminded of their obligation to declare any interest they may have in any issue arising at this meeting which might conflict with the business of the Council
  5. To appoint Standing Committees, delegates to outside bodies and signatories to cheques (list as at 17th May enclosed)
  6. Minutes of a Council meeting held on 29th March 2004 – to agree a true record and sign (previously circulated)
  7. Any matters arising from the minutes of 29th March 2003 being an exchange of information only

  9. a). Cllr. Paul Crossley, Leader of B&NES. Fair Trade in the Council

    b). Home Office. Changes to the Law on preventing illegal working

    c). B&NES. Household and Garden Waste and Recycling

    d). B&NES. Census information for Parishes (runs to 22 sides - your guidance as to distribution

    e). B&NES. Equality Policy Consultation (runs to 18 sides - your guidance as to distribution and committee responsible for responding by 18th June 2004)

    c). To note that Mr. Peter Provest was appointed Internal Auditor for the year 2004/2005 at last year's Annual Meeting

  12. To receive the minutes of Planning Committee meetings held on 5th April and 10th May 2004 (previously circulated or enclosed)
  13. To receive the minutes of a Magazine Committee meeting held on 17th May 2004 (to follow)
  14. To receive a verbal report from Cllr. Butt, the Chairman of the Transport Issues Working Party

    c). Parishes Liaison Meeting 31st March - to receive written report (enclosed)

  17. To formally declare a vacancy for a Councillor on this Council and to instruct the Clerk to inform the Returning Officer and commence the replacement procedure
  18. Any other business, being a preview of correspondence received since 17th May 2004 for noting or inclusion on future agenda
  19. To hold brief meetings of all committees to allow the election of Chairmen
  20. Planning, Personnel, Magazine, Recreation Field, Finance, Environment, Lighting and Burial
