Public Session
There were no questions or comments.
These minutes, which had been previously circulated were taken as read, agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman.
Members questioned the timetable for the erection of the stones agreed at the last meeting. The Clerk reported a telephone message from the stonemason who had said that he would try for 30th March but had not been able to due to the supply of suitable stones. Portland stone would now be used as it wears better. Clerk also reported that he would cover the stone erection story in the June Newsletter.
Various ideas were discussed and eventually, because of the problems with catering, it was decided that the reception in Beacon Hall should be on an invitation basis. A guest list will be composed by the Clerk and put to the Chairman and this Committee. Invitation would be sent to the Chairmen of neighbouring parishes, the Chairman of B&NES, district councillors, MP, IA, leaders of the local churches and voluntary bodies.
Professionals would do the food catering and wine will be purchased through the good offices of Cllr. J P Rich.
The Clerk will ask if Mr. Champion will service the Beacon for lighting later in the evening when the general public will be welcome.
The Chairman's Allowance would be used and supplemented if necessary. Clerk will provide estimates at the next meeting in about a month's time.
The date of the reception, to be confirmed by Cllr. Mrs. Kennedy, will be 20th August - time to be agreed.
Meeting closed at 9.40 p.m.
