There were no comments or questions.
These minutes, which had been previously circulated, were read by the Clerk agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman. There were no matters arising.
The Clerk had tabled his recommendations for levels of revenue funding required for the year. Some heads were increased to cover inflation and possible extra usage due to capital projects brought on line during the present year e.g. extra skip tips due to other committees using the skip and the extra machinery which will require servicing.
Members were happy with the present state of the Cemetery and recommended that no capital projects be undertaken next year.
It was agreed that: the Finance Committee is asked to precept £3236 for Burial Committee needs in the year 2004/2005.
It was noted that the figure represented an 8% rise on the current year.
a). Cllr. J Rich asked if the time was right for a review of Cemetery charges. Members agreed that charges had not been looked at for several years. Members suggested that a review should be done every two years and asked that the Clerk prepare a paper on the subject for next year's estimate meeting in November/December 2004.
b). The Chairman wished to place on record his satisfaction with the new Cemetery Caretaker and congratulated the Personnel Committee on their perfect selection.
c). Cllr. Dixon reported that members of the public had told him of overhanging and possibly unsafe trees in the Churchyard. It was pointed out that our Caretaker was only liable for grass cutting and keeping the hedges tidy. It was agreed that the Caretaker was not to be asked to work on the trees and the Clerk was asked to write to the PCC pointing out the possible danger.
Meeting closed at 7.30 p.m.
