No matters arising
a). Map for Cyclists
We have received a map for cyclists for the Bath & NE Somerset area. Copies are available from tourist information outlets, bike shops and council offices. The Council is to request more copies to keep in the parish office.
b) Keysham Hospital Proposals
A letter has been received outlining the proposals for change.
Cllr Roy gave a short speech covering the reasons for this and it was felt that a gap between closing the existing services and transferring them elsewhere should be avoided.
It was decided to invite a speaker from the NHS to the next environment committee meeting and extend an invitation to the whole council to attend.
Estimates for planting beds etc and grass cutting were considered. Cllr Butt stated that he felt the council was being taxed twice by BANES and suggested that we try to set up a meeting with them to discuss this problem. Cllr Mrs F M Butt to take this to Policy and General Purpose Committee
It was proposed by Cllr Mrs F M Butt that the BANES quote be accepted subject to asking them to lower it by £300.00. This was then seconded by F Day
Cllr R Butt spoke to all present regarding the election of a chairman for the Parish Council.
A chairman has to be elected whereas a vice chairman may be appointed at the time.
The clerk will call for election of the chair and the Chairman calls for nomination for Vice Chair.
Cllr R Butt felt that light pollution in Peasedown St John was far too high and that any further street lighting should be that which uses the white light bulbs as it was felt this would not cause as much light pollution.
Cllr Mrs F M Butt suggested that the Village Green might be made into a small copse by planting trees and wild flowers. Perhaps the Countryside agency could be contacted.
A letter has been received from the Forest of Avon stating that the boundaries are to be extended subject to consultation. This will include the parish of Peasedown St John. It was therefore decided to reply to the letter stating that the council is very interested in this project and would like further information.
It has been noted that the refuse bins outside the Methodist Church Car Park, Jones and the phone box have disappeared. Replacements should be sought.
The speed box programme is being considered by BANES Traffic and Safety Officer who will forward a copy for information
This letter will be displayed in the Notice Board.
The Village Plan Meeting will be held on 16 February 2006 at the cricket club at 7.30 pm.
Meeting closed at 8.05pm
