Peter Provest the internal auditor noted that the articles regarding rubbish clearance in the local paper from the Liberal Democrat Councillors appeared to be in opposition to the Parish Council.

He thought that the Parish Council needed recognition for their efforts in this area and also concluded that it is a BANES responsibility. The Chairman of the Environment Committee is to write to BANES stating that there should be liason between themselves and the Parish Council if any projects are to be taken forward e.g. Village Cleaning by the parishioners.

  1. Apologies were received from Cllr M Roy

5. The planting of the Mercedes roundabout is still under discussion as the Bath Business Park in conjunction with Mercedes have offered a grant of £1500.00 for planting with the proviso the there are two plaques stating this erected. The Council felt that this would not fully enable planting as the plaques would be expensive. The chairman is to arrange a meeting between himself and Josh Roberts who is the representative to discuss other ways to use this money - maybe on hanging baskets in Orchard Way with appropriate notices stating sponsorship,

The chairman explained that the council should have a rolling two year plan of projects in conjunction with B&NES and asked the councillors to think about what they would like see on this and to let the clerk know. The clerk will keep a list.

  1. Any other business

The matter of the money currently held on deposit was mentioned as over the years the value will erode. This is a matter that needs to be discussed by full council.

There has been no information from Michael Gould regarding the new owner of the former Ashgrove Car Lot. The original planning was for 5 shops and 6 flats.

Cllr R Butt has received a 'phone call from Julian Sheppard at the Christadelphian Church regarding 8 youths climbing on the roof of the Church and the general drinking and bad behaviour. Inspector Kendal has said that identification needs to be provided before the police can prosecute. There could be a few ringleaders leading many others. These children appear to come from surrounding villages.

Cllr Mrs F Butt has received a bus pass with the village name spelt incorrectly and the wrong post code. The clerk is to write to B&NES complaining of sloppiness as they had hired a firm from Leeds to action this for them.

A tree in the cemetery is overhanging a resident's property at Underknoll. The clerk is to contact B&NES to ascertain if this is their responsibility and to ask that a team be sent out to cut the offending branches back.

The NHS Consultation dates were given to Cllr M Roy. -
