  1. Minutes of an Environment Committee meeting held on 21st February 2005
  2. These minutes, which had been previously circulated were taken as read, agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman. There were no matters arising.

  3. Correspondence
  4. a). B&NES. E-mail Annual Review of Supported Bus Services

Information received concerning two recommended changes to the list for next year. The Service 747 which links the new estates and the village centre is costing nearly £12 per passenger trip and is recommended for the axe. The other, Service 757 will be revised slightly and should adequately take up the vacuum caused by the axing of Service 747.

Members were not surprised to see 747 axed as it could be seen regularly that the bus was running empty. Members deplored the spending of £26,000 a year on an empty bus and felt that the money could have been spent on better ideas in the village.

    b). Bristol International

Invitation received to send a representative to various consultation meetings over the new Master Plan for the airport. Cllr Mrs. Thomas agreed to take the invite and try to attend one of the sessions.

  5. Peasedown St John in Bloom 2005

Cllr. Mrs. Butt reported on her ideas for revitalising the competition. She circulated a written report of her ideas, which covered a revised date for judging, cutting the classes to five and also involving the allotment holders. She said that she wished to take the competition to the true amateurs by bringing in modern gardens, which use only trees and hard landscaping. She agreed to redesign the application form and the Clerk would re-launch the competition on the front cover of the April Newsletter. It was agreed that all members should put in all effort to make the re-launch a success.

Meeting closed at 8.55 p.m.
