Public Session

Mr. Provest had noticed that the last Newsletter was trimmed to a larger size - he hoped that the price would be the same.

  1. Minutes of a Magazine Committee meeting held on 17th November 2004
  2. These minutes, which had been previously circulated, were taken as read agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman. There were no matters arising.

  3. Distribution of Newsletter
  4. There had been no adverse comments on last time except for a small confusion in Dunkerton Hill. The Committee asked that thanks be given to the Chapel for their last minute offer to deliver the December edition. The Clerk reported that the Scout Group was now able to take on the job from next time. The Scout Leader has given a definite assurance that they will deliver up to the August edition. Members accepted the offer but felt that commitment for a longer period ought to be sought. Members suggested that, after the August edition, the Scouts should be asked to make a longer-term commitment and, if not, the Methodist Church should be allowed to make an offer.

  5. Content of February 2004 Edition
  6. Clerk reported having received most of the regular items and Cllr. Day was able to provide some Church News. Chairman had written a piece on light pollution and the Clerk would fill the front cover with a heavy type announcement of the small rise in the Parish Precept. It was agreed that an amended Directory be printed plus the street plan. Publication date would be around or about 6th February

The April edition was then queried and it was noticed that, because Easter is fairly early and the March Council meeting very late, the April edition should be published early without Council meeting news. The Clerk agreed and said he would try to publish on around or about 26th March. News from the Annual Parish Meeting could be covered in the June edition.

  7. Web Site

A long debate took place concerning the proposed redesigning of the Site with a possible professional Webmaster being appointed. Chairman asked the committee if they could describe the ways in which the Site could be changed and several members seemed to have a different view on the word "modernised".

It was eventually decided that this Committee was in favour of asking potential webmasters to submit ideas (something like tendering) and price their ideas for the Council as a whole to consider whether the £1000 set aside in estimates would be usefully spent. The Chairman would be asking for further suggestions at the forthcoming Council meeting.

Meeting closed at 8.50 p.m.
