Public Session
There were no questions or comments.
These minutes, which had been previously circulated were taken as read, agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman.
The Clerk was asked to extend the committees thanks to Mr. Chivers for his sterling work done during the summer.
The Clerk tabled an up to date estimate programme with his projected cost to cover staff wages and NIC payments. He had estimated a rise for the Clerk of 3.5%, the increase in NIC payments as 11% and wages for the Caretakers to rise by 10%, mainly due to the rise in the NMW both from last October and that already announced for next October.
The total required was £29,310.
Members agreed to recommend to the Finance Committee that £29,310 was required to fund staff wages for the year 2004/2005
Cllr. Butt asked to raise a matter, which directly involves the Clerk in the performance of his duties. The Clerk, when attempting to tackle another section of his Portfolio, had noticed that it was preferable for the Council to have an agreed complaint procedure for him to follow in the event of a public complaint made about the implementation of Council policies. Cllrs. Butt and Mrs. Butt have been able prepare a background paper and have drafted a possible exclusive document, using a model supplied by the Clerk, which originated from NALC. Cllr. Butt gave notice that he and Mrs. Butt would be placing the draft on the agenda of the next Council meeting on 26th January 2004 hoping to get immediate adoption so that the Clerk can complete that particular section of his Portfolio.
Meeting closed at 8 p.m.
