Public Session

Mr. M Spiller, who owns a property beside the footpath that leads to the rear entrance to the school, has built a substantial fence between his property and the footpath. He was forced to do the job because the original fence was in a very poor condition and vandals were continuously entering his property and climbing his trees. He has been asked by B&NES to reduce the height of the fence to the usual 1.8 metres. Mr. Spiller has been told by B&NES that they will consult the Parish Council - which to date they have not.

Chairman said that he was surprised that B&NES had taken such a stance as Mr. Spiller has replaced, at his own expense, a fence which was initially built and maintained by the DC.

It was agreed that when the PC is consulted this Committee would support Mr. Spiller.

  1. Minutes of a Planning Committee meeting held on 25th October 2004
  2. These minutes, which had been previously circulated were taken as read, agreed a true record and signed by the Chairman. There were no maters arising.

  3. Correspondence
  4. West of England Partnership

Letter and three glossy reports received for this Council's comments. The Partnership is looking for comments on their vision for the old Avon County area up to the year 2026.

Volunteers were asked to read and comment - there were none. Suggested that the Environment Committee may have a volunteer.

  5. New Applications
  6. Five were considered and comments recorded in the Planning Register.

  7. Planning Decisions made by B&NES
  8. Seven were reviewed and all were considered to be in accordance with this Council's policies except for the games room and gym in Bloomfield Terrace. Clerk was asked to point out to the planning office that this Council wanted its use by the resident strictly enforced.

  9. Any other business, being an exchange of information for noting or placing on a future agenda

The Chairman raised the fact that, all of a sudden, telephone poles had appeared in Hillcrest. All members agreed that under-grounding should have been used in this reasonable uncluttered area. The poles also contravene policies in the Council's SPG. Clerk to inform Somer Housing and ask for their comments.

Meeting closed at 7.55 p.m.
